About me

I have an extensive background working in the New Zealand dairy manufacturing industry, including laboratory testing, calibration of lab equipment, and other technical roles. My roles at the Studholme and Glenavy sites were both extremely varied, as my skillset involves both dairy experience and technical expertise.

My true passion is anything to do with IT, especially web programming (LAMP). I am familiar with both hardware and software aspects of IT. My skills are varied, from general technology related areas to computer programming and hardware troubleshooting and support. I am familiar with Linux, Windows and Mac, and I am happy using either GUI or CLI.

In 2011, I created a large scale web application called DairyWindow. It was created using LAMP as the back end and jQuery and Bootstrap for the front end. Several dairy companies have adopted the system for use. It serves two main functions: an online diary style of note tracking with search functionality, and also stores analytical results from various laboratories. It provides data graphing abilities, exporting of data to PDF, and SMS notifications when test results do not meet specification levels. DairyWindow is developed and run on a network of virtual servers hosted by Google Cloud Compute, which I created and configured myself.
